ASBURY HALL
College of Nursing
University of Southern Mississippi
Located on the western edge of the academic center, this project plays an important role in the planned physical expansion of the campus to continue in that direction. The building serves as the cornerstone to the emerging academic section of the campus and provides a strong visual link between the historic and the new campus architecture. The 93,000-square foot major capital improvement project houses the University’s College of Nursing program and contains: Interactive Classroom Learning Spaces; a large Lecture Hall; and an Academic Resource Center with private study rooms. These spaces include lecture capture technology to provide distance learning capabilities. The facility also includes Administrative Offices; Student and Dining Lounge Areas and a Nursing Skills Simulation Laboratories that provide students with expanded hands-on learning experiences, and video capture/playback for debriefing and extended learning. The Nursing Skills Simulation Lab also includes specialty areas such as an Operating Room, Labor & Delivery Room, Neonatal Room and Anesthesia Room. Project was completed as a joint venture with Eley Guild Hardy Architects, PA.
